The International Journal of Advances in Machining and Forming Operations is concerned primarily with the science and technologyof machining and forming processes applied to the manufacture of engineering components in various materials: metals, composites, plastics, ceramics etc. To this end coverage is given to a range of topics that includes:
• Physics mechanics, tribology, metallurgy of processes involving material removal, deformation, splitting, shaping, extrusion etc in solid, semi-solid and other forms
• significant development of new manufacturing methods and processes
• Tool and tooling design, testing and failure modes Physical, analytical and numerical modeling
• Experimental methods and methodologies
• Efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of various operations
• Mechanical, electro-physical and chemical machining mechanisms and processes
• Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology
• Micro and nano machining and forming processes
The above list is not exhaustive and papers on other topics associated with manufacturing process operations and technology are welcome. Significant and useful advance of the current state of knowledge is the most essential factor in considering papers’ acceptance. We encourage academicians, researchers, research engineers and designers worldwide t contribute original work for publication in the journal, which is meant for numerous engineers and scientists in academia and industry active in the journal’s core subject fields.
Formal conditions of acceptance
• Papers will only be published in English.
• Each typescript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been submitted for publication elsewhere in English.
• Previous presentation at a conference, or publication in another language, should be disclosed.
• All papers are refereed, and the Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to refuse any typescript, whether on invitation or otherwise, and to make suggestions and/or modifications before publication.
• Typescripts which have been accepted become the property of the publisher, It is a condition of acceptance that copyright shell be vested in the publisher.
• The publisher shall furnish authors of accepted papers with proofs for the correction of printing errors. The proofs shall be returned within 14 calendar days of submittal. The publishers shall not be held responsible for errors which are the result of authors’ oversights
Peer review process
For all manuscripts submitted to the journal, a full double - blind refereeing process is used in which:
• Papers are sent to 2 - 3 experts for their peer review.
• The reviewers’ recommendations determine whether a paper will be accepted as it is/accepted subject to minor change/subject to resubmission with significant changes/ rejected.
• For papers which require significant changes as determined by the reviewers, the same reviewers will be used to ensure that the quality of the revised paper is acceptable
AUTHOR GUIDELINES
Typescript preparation: The original typescript should be submitted electronically in A4 size format, with a word count of 5000-7000 (excluding figures), following the submission requirements described on the Journal’s website. A final paper which would exceed 7000 words or occupy more than 15 pages of the Journal may be returned for abridgement.
The body of the manuscript should be submitted in two separate files. The first one includes the title of the paper, names, affiliations and complete contact information of the authors as well as the abstract. The second file is the text of the paper which should include title, abstract, text, references and notes, tables, figure captions, figures, but not the names of authors, their biographical notes nor any acknowledgements. Please make sure that authors’ names are not included in the document/file properties.
References and notes: The journal uses the Harvard (name and date) short reference system for citations in the text with a detailed alphabetical list at the end of the paper. For example ‘Cornwell (2005) suggests ...‘ or ‘Xiao and Wang (1987) found that ...‘ or ‘A study of surface finish (Shaw and Daniel, 1982) has shown that
Units of measurement
SI units should only be used in the body of manuscript.
