International Journal of Discrete Event Control Systems (IJDECS): The rapid evolution of computing, communication, and sensor technologies has brought `new' dynamic systems, mostly technological and often highly complex. Examples are:computer and communication networks; automated manufacturing systems; air traffic control systems; and distributed software systems. The actions in these systems are governed by operational rules defined by users; their dynamics are characterized by asynchronous occurrences of discrete events. These features define the well-known term of discrete event systems as a subclass of dynamic systems. The development of these systems is not an easy activity because they have to satisfy user requirements in addition to their time-to-market that has to be more shorter than ever. Nowadays in academia and also in industry, several rich and interesting research works have been carried out to optimize their development process in order to accelerate their deployment.
