The International Journal of Product Design invites original papers from both industrial and academic contributors. IJPD is a peer-reviewed multidisciplinary international journal that aims to publish state of the art research work in product design and development. The Journal is published two times a year and is supported by International Editorial Board members who are experts in several areas of product design.
IJPD welcomes contributions in any research areas of product design and industrial design engineering. The areas covered by this journal include, but are not limited to: product design, design methodology, engineering design, creativity and innovation in product design, concurrent engineering, collaborative engineering, PLM systems, CAD/CAM/CAE systems and applications, ECO-design, product sustainability, Design for “X”, design optimization, packaging design, industrial design engineering, quality in product design, modern manufacturing technologies in product design, simulations in product design.
Guidelines and instructions
Manuscript Submission
Only unpublished work not submitted elsewhere and not under consideration elsewhere is suitable for submitting. The paper should be approved by all the co-authors, institute or any funding bodies. The publisher will not be held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation.
Permissions
Authors wishing to include figures, tables, or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) for publication. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors.
Submission
Electronic submission through online or through email is preferred.
Authors guidelines
Typescript preparation
• The original typescript should be submitted electronically in A4 size format
• Submitting could be done in MS word, or pdf format with word count of 5000- 12000 (excluding figures). The paper should not cross 20 pages of the journal.
• The text of the paper should include title, abstract, text, references and notes, tables, figure captions, Figures.
• All papers must be written in US English. If English is not your first language, please ask an English speaking colleague to proofread your paper.
• The preferred electronic document format is MS Word single column with 1 inch margin on all sides. If you use LaTex, please save your LaTex file as a PDF file, to ensure that those reviewing your Manuscript will be able to view it.
Title, abstract, keywords, addresses, biographical notes
• Please assist us by following these guidelines:
• Title: as short as possible
• Abstract: approximately 100 words, maximum 250
• Keywords: approximately 2-5 words or phrases.
• Address: position, department, name of institution, full postal address and email address for each
• author
• Biographical notes: approximately 100 words per author, maximum 150.
References and notes
• Please use the Harvard (name and date) short reference system for citations in the text with a detailed alphabetical list at the end of the paper.
• Footnotes should be avoided, but any short, succinct notes making a specific point, may be placed in number order following the alphabetical list of references.
• References should be made only to works that are published, accepted for publication (not merely 'submitted'), or available through libraries or institutions. Any other source should be qualified by a note regarding availability.
• References should be cited in the text as in the following examples:
• Single Author: (Gero, 2000).
• Two authors: (Peng and Gero, 2007).
• Three or more authors: (Nijkamp et al., 2004).
• Authors names as part of sentence: Gero (2000) states ....
• Full reference should include all authors' names and initials, date of publication, title of paper, title of publication, volume and issue number (of a journal), publisher and form (books, conference proceedings), page numbers. In the reference: Bilda Z. and Gero J.S. 2007. The impact of working memory limitations on the conceptual design process, Design Studies Vol. 28, No.4, pp. 343-367.
Submission
• Before sending your paper to the journal's Editor, please make sure that you have included all necessary information.
• Include name of the author designated as the corresponding author, along with their: e-mail address, full postal address, telephone and fax numbers, keywords and/or classification codes, if required.
• The names and addresses of four potential Referees.
• Ensure that online submission or submission by e-mail text files are in a standard word-processing format (Word, pdf are preferred).
• Ensure that graphics are high-resolution. Preferred formats are either JPG, GIF, TIFF. Ensure that all necessary files have been uploaded/attached, and all figure captions are available.
• Make sure all tables are present (including title, description, footnotes).
