Implementation of Prime Minister Housing for all Mission

Urbanization and the growth of the urban population have put urban infrastructure and services under severe stress. Infrastructure development has a key role in economic growth and development.  The urban centres have emerged as engines of growth.  However, urban India presents a grim scenario concerning the availability of housing.  The escalating demand for basic services in urban areas is resulting in a serious deterioration of service quality across housing, transport, health care, power, water supply, sanitation and education. As housing constitutes an important element of human life.  It has the potential to contribute to a rise in national income.  It also accelerates the pace of development.  Investments in housing have a multiplier effect on income and employment.   Prime Minister Housing for All (Urban) was implemented in India to provide EWS/LIG and MIG categories housing including the slum dwellers by ensuring a pucca house to all eligible families/beneficiaries by 2022. As of June 2021, 11.2 million houses have been sanctioned under PMAY-U, of which 4.8 million have been completed. There has been remarkable progress in the performance of the Mission in India. Against this backdrop, the present study has been carried out to examine the implementation of the Mission and its impact on beneficiaries in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is expected that the book will be significant in understanding of performance Prime Minister Housing for All , housing conditions  and  issues in implementation of the Mission in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
