Political Theory we go through in India is obviously western product. There is no harm in importing knowledge if it undergoes indigenous scrutiny. We are given to understand that the knowledge disseminated by the West is of universal application which by itself stands fallacious. The whole problem is that there has been no introspection from our side in spite of being gifted with abundant knowledge, wisdom and experience. Our public figures since nineteenth century became prisoner of the colonial super-structure and tried to map and measure Indian ideals and institutions from the western prism. Leave aside trying to probe veritable Indian alternative, the post-independence intelligentsia not only internalized the imported text book maxims but buttressed them increasingly. The left (Marxist) and liberal (Nehruvian) nexus ruled the roost in the academics, and as a sequel every University product under this kind of tutelage shaped his mind in unIndian way.
Formidable works have been contributed on the polity of ancient India and political thought of individual savants from the days of modern Indian renaissance to contemporary epoch. But hardly any serious attempt has been underscored to erect a kind of political theory from Indian perspective; many of which are definitely distinctive and unique which may add to the lexicon of social science. The present work is just a debut trying to attract further study in the realm of political theory.
