The most ancient groups of India are designated as tribes commonly referred to as aboriginals. adivasis, adimjatis, indigenous population or primitive groups of India. On the basis of their anthropological characteristics tribal people of India are considered to be aboriginal. The term -adivasis". the 'original settlers', is more appropriate. however, with the changes in their socio-economic and cultural spheres, they have been consequently reflected in their understanding and in the living of the people. Though there is intrusion of modern thoughts and programme interventions, they ultimately do not want to lose their identity. This fact was known through the constant field work approach, rapport developed with the tribal people in the villages, and through participant observation by the authors at different points of time. In order to understand the cultural setting of all the tribes of Eastern Ghats of Andhra Pradesh. the ethnographic profile of different tribes was collectively put together. The book deals with the ethnographic profile of Bagatha. Chenchu, Dulia, Gadaba, Jatapu, Khond. Konda Dora. Konda Reddi, Koya Dora. Mali. Manne Dora. Porja, and Savara. This ethnographic account reflects the culture of the tribal people, the changes in their life style and the pattern of living of the tribal people of Andhra Pradesh in the current situation.
