Victimological Narratives on Gender Violence

Women victimization continues to be a recurrent theme in the circles in criminal justice scholarship and practices. The post- Delhi gang rape scene and the development following this have raised more critical questions regarding the experiences of victimization by women and their interface with law and practices. Debates as to the normative law seemingly serving effectively leave a lot to desire when analysed critically on the enforcement plane. The gap between promise and performance keeps widening. An even cursory look at the status of literature on the subjects makes us felt that broad based empirical research is too limited in this area so far as Indian scene is concerned. In its broad sweep, there appears several manifestations of women victimization or crime against women. There are thirty papers in this volume which present a broad canvas of the problem under study.
