Indigenous Knowledge in Traditional Folk Panorama: Genesis, Development & Applications

The indigenous knowledge system is based on the basic understanding of the native communities the life and activities of which are rooted to the very understanding pattern that is conditioned by close set observations and integrated conception of inherent thought pattern. At the present moment, a world-wide consciousness of the scholars has been raised centering round the indigenous knowledge network which is highly expressive in the way of life and philosophy of the rural and tribal communities. India is characteristically conspicuous in this line of thought and understanding pattern. The tradition-bound country like India is provided with the splendid heritage of indigenous knowledge resources. In this book an attempt has been made to highlight this situation through the presentation of 25 different papers each of which is pledged to explore the various dimensions of indigenous knowledge of the native people and their effectuation. The book is expected to generate the research-oriented contemplation on this specific issue especially related to the traditional folk panorama.
