Micro-Credit Financing in India

The financing of Self Help Groups' microcredit needs by offering small loans to the self-employed and giving loans to small farmers with schemes like Kisan Credit Cards have been the starting points in the change in the mindset of Governments and financial institutions alike towards the un-bankable. Many of these schemes are marked by collateral less microcredit to people having no credit history with an inherent risk of creating Non Performing Assets in the form of bad loans for the financial institutions. But surprisingly these schemes have very low NPA's and have had a good impact on the overall health of the economy by employing a large number of people in productive work.
