The book examines the woman Self Help Groups (SHGs), micro-finance, changing livelihoods and their impact on status, role and empowerment among Dalit women in Andhra Pradesh. The book gives the socio-economic and cultural profile including the status and role of women among the Scheduled Castes before becoming members of the SHGs. The book also describes the process of implementation of SHG programme among the SCs and the extent of their participation in the programme. It examines the amount of savings, investment, changing livelihoods, patterns of income and expenditure among the members of SHGs. The book gives the changes that occurred in the status and role of women among the Schedule Castes due to participation in SHG programme in Andhra Pradesh.
