Lucknow Metro Rail Project is one of the most expensive metro projects of Uttar Pradesh, The North –South Corridor, which runs from Munshipulia to the Chaudhry Charan Singh International Airport, is the main part of the operational metro project. There are 21 stations along the 23 km length of this corridor. The 8.5 km section of this North -South Corridor has been completed on a priority basis and has been made operational. Although the metro can go at a maximum speed of 90 km/h, it typically travels at 34 km/h. The metro contains CCTV cameras and is outfitted with all the latest technologies. The metro currently uses four locomotives that are powered by overhead electricity. The proposed network of West to South (Vasantkunj to Charbagh ) consisting of 12 stations is likely to promote the last mile connectivity and will reduce traffic congestion . In the future, LMRC intends to reduce the headway time to two to three minutes during peak hours in order to enhance metro frequency. Although last mile connectivity may become an issue due to lack of connectivity, the metro proves to be beneficial for passengers. The study has been conducted to assess the present ridership, and examine the factors responsible for low use of metro services and suggesting to improve the Lucknow Metro services. The Intermediate Public Transport (IPT) handles 17 percent of daily journeys.
