Education in India : Impact of Covid-19 Crisis and Contemporary Issues

Covid-19 pandemic has significantly disrupted every aspect of human life. As the Covid-19 spread across the globe in general and our country in particular, alarm bells are sounding in the education sector. The issue of the Covid-19 and its impact on education system is an emergent focus of debate worldwide. The Covid-19 pandemic has forced schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions to shut down temporarily. Closing educational institutions and cancelling classes have become a Covid-19 reality in many countries of the world, leading to enormous anxiety and uncertainty. The purpose of this edited book is to investigate the impact of Covid-19 crisis on education system. Efforts have been made by this edited volume to identify and investigate the challenges that presently the education system is facing due to Covid-19 disruption. Some chapters analyses the impact of Covid-19 on Indian education system, focusing on education during online teaching and assessment of students getting online classes. Chapters included in this book also attempt to explore the opportunities for the future of global education in the post Covid-19 world. The book includes contributions from a variety of contexts and from authors who systematically reflect on the consequences of the pandemic and present findings from research focusing on the ways in which the Covid-19 pandemic has affected the work of teachers and students. Overall, the book has attempted to find out the answer to the most pertinent question at this present moment of crisis.
