Cultural Imprints of India

The present work on "Cultural Imprints of India" discusses, at first, though briefly, the evolution of the Gods on the Earth especially in India and the birth of the Bhakti Tatva or the total surrender to the God which shaped the mind and culture of the people of India and more particularly caused the invention and development of varied art and literary forms. Then, it deals in detail with the early human cultures in India, examples of the ancient cultural centres excavated, the rock-cut cave temples, cut-out rock temples, stuructural temples, sculptures, paintings, iconographic details of various forms of the Gods, -- all belonging to the Buddhist, Jain and Brahmanical/Hindu religions,--- apart from dealing with numismatics, epigraphy and also Islamic and Christian art in India. It meets the needs of the teachers of the subject, researchers, U.G. and P.G. students, the job-seekers, the competitors in the State and Central Services Examinations like those of the U.P.S.C., the tourists and also the general public.
